Rich Waters

A man has a fish.

It was some god forbidden time in the middle of the night- stars shining bright in the sky as the owner of the large estate returned home after his recent adventure. He drove up the rock driveway and parked- a servant coming around to take the car away after maids pulled out luggage. It was a rather old... rather large house. White stone and large pillars towered high and marble stairs led the way up to the large opening. A soft sigh escaped the owners lips as he pulled the tie from around his neck. "Master... Everything related to work is in your office for in the morning and you have a meeting tomorrow at noon-" A hand lifted up. "Godfry.. Is he ok?" Was all that tall man spoke. He was tall- broad shouldered with soft tan skin, Dusty brown hair messily cut but sat in a orderly way, an eye patch going across his left eye the other a vibrant shade of green. Godfry shifted some, an old man and the master of the house's butler. "Sir, All of your collection is safe and comfortable." Vaan was his name. Vaan Von Fugr the ninth. and the lord of this house. "Send everything up to my room. I'm going to the tank room." He silently turned and made his way down a hall way before slipping into a second hall way- the lights getting dimmer as he walked along. He stopped at a set of arched doors and looked up at them before pushing them open. He stepped in and closed the door behind him. The room was dark other then a huge tank in the center- the blue light making all the light the room needed, ripples reflecting off the walls. He slowly moved to stand next to the tank, watching colorful fish pass by... but that wasn't why he was there... he wanted to see him.

A flash of blue on the side of the tank, peeked out through the massive Rock castle inside of the cave, Inside it laid a fish, A special fish that was by far one of the most unique fish ever seen. Being some thing from another planet. Obie had no idea what happened the day he saw that man for the first time. Bright blue eyes opened slowly, the feeling of being watched rousing him. He moved then making his way to the invisible wall, placing his hands on it, blue eyes looking into green. He mouthed something inaudible before looking away, as if he was pushing to ask for something.

Vaan stared at the beautiful creature- smiling as the other stared at him. He moved to rest his hands against the glass and tilted his head some, watching the other 'talking'. He moved back then walked over to the side and up some stairs onto a platform and the openning to the tank. He looked down at the mouth of the tank and tilted his head. "You're going to have to come up here, Obie." He let out a chuckle and pulled his shoes and socks off and rolled his pants up- sitting on the edge and slipping his feet into the water. He had noticed that Godfry had set out a bucket of Obie's favorite fish and pulled it close. "Must be this he wants..." He pulled a fish out and held it teasingly over the water.

Obie swam around just under the surface, tail fin peeking up from out of the water, the sent of fresh fish came to his nose and he slowly poked his head up from the water eyes and nose only visible be fore he looked at Vaan, a hand reaching out to reach for the fish. "..." he frowned seeing it was just out of his reach. He moved closer slowly still unsure of this man, When he was only but a foot away he stopped, cream tipped fingers reaching for the fish again.

Vaan smiled and moved to set the fish down on his lap and held his hands up. "I'm not going to touch you..." He whispered in his deep, calming voice. "I just want you to get use to me being here." He whispered again and watched the humanoid betta fish. "C'mon.. I have more..." It had been a few months now and he had just gotten Obie use to taking the fish with him close- now if he could only get the other to come closer to him..

Obi held his position blue eyes locked on that fish in the others lap he had seen humans before, on his planet, but he's never gone near them for fear he'd get hurt, His stomach protested against his will. Slowly, Obie swam forward eyes staying on Vaan's hands, making sure they stayed put. once he was close enough he reached for the fish, fingers brushing against Vaan's thigh before they wrapped around the fish, Obie quickly pulling away

Vaan smiled as he felt the other touch him slightly. "Oh- you touched me." He watched the other swim back and smirked, head tilting some as he pulled another fish out. "I'm not like the humans from where you're from, Obie.. I would never hurt you." He kept his voice soft, soothing. "I've given you this vast home which is way larger then the pond you were living in... I give you fresh food and anything you want." He moved to hold out his hand at the Betta. "All I want in return is to touch you..."

Obie looked at that hand for a moment, soft blue eyes watching the man, listening to him, he was right, this was far better than his pond and the fish tasted fresh, the freshest he's ever had. perhaps this human wouldn't do him any harm. "..n-no....hur..t" he looked at Vaan's hand still outstretched before he reached his own hand out soft wet fingers placed gently in Vaan's palm, guarded eyes watching Vaan.

Vaan blinked some and smiled as he stared at those fingers in his own, he gently moved to wrap his fingers around those slick, wet fingers in his own hand. "See.. Vaan no hurt Obie." He whispered and gently pulled that hand, pulling Obie closer- until he was close to his legs. "You're really beautiful, Obie.. you know that?" He tilted his head, even though he pulled the fish closer he only kept it to holding Obie's hand and didn't try to touch him in any other way. "Do you like living here, Obie?" He moved to hold a fish out to Obie, wanting him to take it.

Obie tilted his head to the side, trying to make out something to say in return, but his small use of vocabulary prevented him from doing such. He caught sight of the small fish, his free hand reaching up to grab at it, chest lightly brushing Vaan's leg, taking hold of the fish and tried to swim back, halting when he felt a small tug. His hand was still in Vaan's. He looked at their hands for a moment before looking up at Vaan a small frown furrowing his brow "...a..o..ob...l-lik" he whispered testing out the words he's heard, only spoken by Vaan. He looked up at Vaan with question wanting to know if he said the right thing.

Vaan blinked some and watched Obie. "What... do you want me to let go?" He pulled that hand gently, pulling Obie close once more. "You have to say 'let it go'" He stated, looking down at the betta with a small smile. "I'm trying to teach you how to speak.. L-e-t Mai Hand Go." He said each word slowly, sounding them out for Obie, his thumb running over the shimmering scales on the back of Obie's hand.

Obie looked at his hand then up at Vaan then back at his hand again,watching Vaan's thumb run over his scales, making him shiver slightly. soft lips opening "..le" he murmured stopping to think again, a small frown on his face. "le...let..m-m....ha" he paused looking up at Vaan "ha-hand..go" he whispered, his other hand was holding onto the edge of the tank. Though he didn't know much English, his kind naturally had a thing for learning quickly.

Vaan smiled and let Obie's hand slip out of his own. He looked down into the water for a moment, watching the other's fin swaying back and forth and slowly let his good eye travel up. He then moved to grab a few more fish and stepped down into the water- it branched off onto a platform half covered with water before it dropped off fully into the tank- but held enough water for Obie to swim comfortably. "A bit cold.." He muttered before holding a fish out at Obie, having watched him eat the first. "Not gonna hurt you."

Obie swam around the platform, swimming under it before he moved closer, lured by that fish he was closer to Vaan now, as he peered at the fish, top half out of the water. he reached and grabbed the fish, biting into it raw, chewing up the bits in his mouth before he took another bite, nearly forgetting Vaan was arms length from him. He finished up the fish and looked over at Vaan blinking some before he smiled a small timid smile. the first signs of trust

Vaan blinked his good eye before smiling back at Obie, holding out another fish for him to take. Once Obie was distracted once more he gently reached out and pressed his large hand to the top of that Betta's head, fingers petting into that silky, wet hair. "Gentle.." He whispered softly. "You really are special, Obie. You know that?" He pulled his hand away after a moment and pulled his shirt off and tossed it onto the platform before walking out a bit more- planning to swim.

Obie nearly froze feeling that hand on his head. He felt the gesture as gentle, allowing Vaan to pet him eyes lowering some as he munched away on the fish, watching as Vaan walked closer. Tentatively Obie swam over to the edge of the platform. A few inches from it as he watched Vaan, almost wanting him to join. Blue eyes watched the other man as he came closer. Slowly he raised hand reaching out to Vaan, the same thing Vaan did earlier to bring him closer in a way. Obie wanting someone to swim with

Vaan let his deep chuckle fill the room as he smiled and grabbed Obie's hand. "Ok ok..." He muttered and took a breath before diving under the water. He looked over at Obie who held his hand and kicked his feet. On the outside the tank was huge but on the inside it surely was grand. Black sand coated the bottom and a small reef climbed up the side with various small fishes and a a few eel and such- an Obie's cave taking up most of one side- a pocket of air formed in it so if Obie wanted to breath he could. There were also toys- loops and such and Vaan made sure Obie was never bored. He looked over at Obie and smiled before swimming up, taking a breath.

Obie smiled once Vaan was in the water with him, swimming with the other, when Vaan went up for air Obie chose to swim in small circles around him. Obie was happy to have someone with him that wasn't the fish he lived with. His hand holding onto Vaan's as he lead them through the rings and down to dust the sands, before he pulled Vaan up for air moving to rest his top half against the platform, arms folded under his chin as he smiled softly at Vaan.

Vaan panted softly and moved his hair from his face as he to held onto the platform, looking over at Obie as the other smiled at him. He moved to place a hand on Obie's head once more, petting him gently before running gentle fingers down the other's cheek. "I guess.. You like me now huh? Say my name.. Vaaaaan... can you say it, Obie?"

Obie blinked some, lips parting open slowly "V...Vaaa" he started shifting slightly before trying again "Vaaaaaaan" he repeated with a smile, he was sure he said it right because that's how it sounded with the other said that. his tail fin twitched slightly waiting for the others command or action, or even a fish for praise

Vaan smirked and nodded his head. "Yep." He moved out of the water and walked over to the bucket and grabbed a few fish before going back into the water and swimming over to Obie. "Here.." He held out a fish for Obie. "So Obie, Can you understand everything I say?"

Obie took the fish happily chomping on it, blue tongue licking his fingers after. He looked over at Vaan, shaking his head slowly. he could understand and make out some words, other then that he couldn't make much out. He looked at Vaan those fin like ears lifting slightly.

A hand moved out slowly to touch Obie's face once more, fingers moving down the slick skin... then slowly down the side of Obie's neck until it rested on his shoulder. As of now Vaan was standing in front of him- inches away. "Do you know what a hug is?" He whispered as he stared down at those blue eyes with his only good green eye. His other hand moved up to rest on Obie's other shoulder. "Its a way to thank someone... Do you want to learn?" He tilted his head, strands of brown sticking to his tan skin.

Obie had never had a human touch him as such, his form freezing still for a moment before he caught the soft smile the other made. His head slowly tilted to the side, a small confused expression on his face, brows furrowing trying to figure out what Vaan meant. He looked at the other before shaking his head slowly. He shifted in the water a moment sinking down a little feeling the cold chill of the air on his drying upper half. He nodded his head. Curious to know what Vaan was speaking about, from the looks of it, it shouldn't be all that bad.
